When 3 men find a box in an old barn they release strange creatures that are contained within. These tiny beings seem harmless enough, but soon they begin to multiply. The small floating entities soon bond with the men that found them along with two small girls and their mother. Unknown to them the floaters are taking something from them, while they give something in return. However, they soon find out that what they receive is highly dangerous. It’s what they are given though that brings nothing but terror to them as they are pursued by three mercenaries who will do anything to get it, including murder. Before long they are running for their lives. None of them are aware that the creatures need a Keeper.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. Not knowing exactly what these creatures had my curiosity piqued which kept me reading all the way up until the end. Once I started I just had to know where they came from and what they were.
Unfortunately, I was not able to connect with any of the characters, except Einstein the dog. Other than him, I really didn’t like any of the characters much at all. I found it difficult to do that because the point of view kept switching from character to character.
There were, however, some pretty thrilling moments near the end where I didn’t want to put it down because I wanted to see what would happen.
I was a bit disappointed when I found out what these creatures were and where they came from. And while it was something totally unexpected, it was kind of a letdown.
For that reason and because I couldn't connect with anyone of the characters, I was unable to rate it higher than three stars.
